Despite the arch top I sound nothing like Ralph’s classic version here. There can be a lot of freedom to modal playing and I always think going out on a limb is rewarding as long as you can reel yourself back in.

Nice job. I really like the sound of it with the banjo tuned down like that.

I haven't heard this level of creativity applied to this tune, since I used to listen to David Lindley playing it, in the early 1960s.

Sweet! Wish I could steal a bit of those variations for clawing this tune!

A great rendition of one of my favorite five-string pieces: A haunting, evocative sound that conjures calloused, weather-hardened hands and weary gaunt faces of people who worked hard just for subsistence, never hoping for anything more.

Well said. Music can convey an emotion when words fail.

That is just beautiful. Perfect tempo for that version. I think Ralph would approve.

Thanks! I hope Ralph would approve. I met him one time and he wasn't saying much...

Hey Pick! Wassup stranger?

I can picture this version being played in a noir film in one of those basement lounges filled with cigarette smoke( cough)

Thanks I thought I should try something different. Playing it Ralph's way has been done.
