This banjo will likely be for sale soon. Trying to establish a reasonable value and / or asking price. This instrument belonged to the deceased father of the lady who is current owner. He would be the original sole owner as this banjo has been in the family since originally purchased new in 1965. It appears to be in its stock original configuration except for a Prowler bridge and obviously new strings. Original ODE marked bridge comes with the package. Cannot speak for the head. There is hardly any fret wear and the overall finish is in excellent condition with no glaring nicks or gouges. The vintage strap is connected via rawhide laces so no worries about metal clips marring the hardware. The plating on the lower half of the armrest is showing wear down to the nickel. 5th peg finish blemish not neck crack.
Carved Brazilian rosewood neck. Not certain about rim wood. Original friction 5th peg. I searched the internet for specific info on this model and came up with very little. Seems this model was only made 1965 -1966.
Owner states that everything about the banjo, case, accessories, brochures, case key, etc. is what came with it when originally purchased.
If the ODE experts could chime in with anything you might be able to add, it would be greatly appreciated. I have not disassembled the banjo or made any attempt to clean it as it is in very clean condition and sounds great. Head tension has been adjusted using a drum dial.
