I recently discovered I like the sound of a metal thumbpick. The one I have is a Jim Dunlop 94530. I love how it sounds, but HATE, and i mean HATE how it feels on my thumb.

That said, are there any thumbpicks out there that have a metal blade, but a plastic loop? Basically the opposite of a ProPik or Blue Chip?

Needle nose pliers are your friend. I’ve been using the Dunlop metal thumb pick, ever since I bought one for 75 cents at a festival, over 20 years ago. Metal bends… if it doesn’t feel right, bend it until it does.

I still have, and use, a set of Dunlop picks that I got in high school, metal thumb pick and all. Still going strong after 45 years.
There is also a metal thumb pick called a Dr. Sherpa which is a little more forgiving on the thumb once it is properly shaped. That's what I use now.

Hey, why not just get a sheet of self-adhesive moleskin (available in any drug store) and cut it to fit the interior of the thumb pick's metal band.  I do this on my Blue Chip thumb pick and it works VERY well to cushion your thumb from the metal band's interior.
