Hey all, I'm new to the forum (and banjo!) and this is my real attempt at a composition of a popular song.
Would love any advice and feedback.

You did a great job!

My advice is keep it up. Working up your own banjo arrangements to songs that others haven't recorded or tabbed out is one of the best ways to develop your musicianship and personal style.

Yes, you have some rough spots, but you probably know where they are and I believe they'll go away the more you play and the more technique you learn and master. One of the challenges in both clawhammer and three-finger (what I play) is that melodies don't always fit our familiar or comfortable picking patterns (or strokes). So sometimes, we're at the beginning or end of a pattern but the song isn't and it breaks our flow. You're tackling this challenge head-on.

Thanks so much for your feedback Old Hickory,

I must admit I had wondered regarding the patterns/melodies not fitting and was worried that kind of shoe-horning what I thought could just be dodgy technique into the tune wasn't the right way to go. With that said, I'm sure there are plenty of areas here where a different approach would have worked better, but it's comforting to know this is a common problem faced and I'm sure i'll get there as my technique improves.

That's genuinely helpful to hear, cheers!
