I’m pretty new to two finger, having learned only a few songs (skillet good & greasy, cluck old hen, and pretty Polly). Now, I’ve been looking around but have Been having a hard time finding lesson videos beyond beginner. So far I found a book on it called “thumb lead 2 finger banjo” by Matt Brown. If any one has tried it, is it any good? Are there any other good resources?

Matt Brown's book is very good. He also has a Patreon page you might want to check out. Matt may be the best teaching resource for two finger out there. There does seem to be a dearth of 2F resources.

Matt’s book is excellent. I recommend it. There are recordings to go with it.

Some other resources:

- Sebastian Schroeder (BHO member) has several 2F tab books. I know they are available through Amazon, but now sure where else.

- Tabs and other good stuff on Sean Barth’s (another BHO member) “Thumb-Lead Banjer” website:

- Check out YouTube channels for Josh Turknett (Brainjo), Ryan Spears (Play Better Banjo), Colin Bazali, Banjo Lemonade (Mandy), BanjoLogic, Chris Berry, Aaron Kiem and Clifton Hicks.

- Art Rosenbaum's "Old TIme Mountain Banjo" is a classic with a whole chapter on 2F banjo. It's out of print, but there is a digital edition available through Google Play.

- I also have a YouTube channel with a "Two finger banjo with tabs" playlist.  Currently, that list has 57 videos, each with a free tab (look for a link to the tab in each YouTube video description).

jack_beuthin alright! Thank you so much! I’ll be sure to check these out, I’ve actually been watching Clifton and Banjo lemonade for a bit now (alongside phoebe sanders), but I’ll be sure to check out the others and your channel! And I think I’ll pull the trigger on the book

Many basic clawhammer arrangements found in beginners' books can be fairly easily adapted for Two-finger playing -- Thumb or Index lead.
The banjer is a DIY instrument, so working out your own arrangements -- from scratch or spring-boarding off the playing of others -- is the best way to get inside the music and develop as a picker.
