I'm getting ready to finish a replica, replacement neck for a late 50s or early 60s bowtie mastertone and I'm not sure which fret positions get side dots. Can anyone post a pic or list the frets where Gibson put side dots? Thanks in advance.

Using several reverb listings as a reference, 1, 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, 15, 17, 19, and 22 for '60's RB-250's.
At least some had double side dots at the 12th fret. The doubles were widely spaced.
If you can lay in that many of them in perfect alignment, my hat is off to you.

I just checked my 67 RB 500 bowtie and it is just as Bob described above. Double dots at 12.

Note: NO dots on the treble side of the fingerboard of course.

So the short answer is: "all of 'em".
Thanks, folks.

John probably can align them perfectly. Even I can inlay my side dots pretty straight and I'm nowhere near his class when it comes to building.

To look authentic, they don't need to be aligned any better than Gibson would have done them!

Not to be a party pooper or anything, buy using a fence on the drill press keeps them side dots pretty well lined up.
