I'm building my first resonator. A friend of mine pressed the back a couple years ago and I'm building the sidewalls now. It's a mahogany resonator. Someday in the next year or so I hope to start building a lot more resonators, but in the time being, I need a tiny bit of help on this first one.

Does anyone have a piece of 1/16" mahogany veneer they would sell me? I just need a piece large enough to wrap about the outer edge of the sidewalls.

My friend doesn't have any or I would've asked him.

I really don't want to buy a big leaf of veneer from a company somewheres, pay a horrendous shipping fee, and then maybe not use it all if I decide not to continue building resonators.

If anyone here would be willing to ship me a piece 2-3" wide and about 48" long, I would pay for the veneer and shipping.

Thanks

Surely you have a bandsaw with a good blade? Just make your own. Someone who can manage a banjo neck should be able to turn out a veneer that size in under 10 minutes

Good grief, I'm a total imbecile haha. Thanks for solving my dilemma haha. Finding oneself in the position of "well shucks, NOW what am I gonna do" tends to cause some of us to overlook something so obvious haha.

As I age (?) I've found that sometimes I go thru the "figure it out"  process, and then after the dust settles realize that it's the exact same process I used sometime in the past ..... and possibly more than once.  sad  [Maybe that's part of "Getting old ain't for sissies." .... so make hay while the sun shines, so to speak . ???]

... glad you've got the upper hand.
