Why is the "van" in my name (wrongly) spelled with a capital "V"?

In the alphabet, my name comes under "H",  "van" is just a connection, pointing at my family name.

In German it would be "von", in French "de"...

All these words don't start with a capital.

So please, write my name correctly....

Check your profile.

I just made myself Ian van Test and it works fine for me.

edit: adding screenshot, I'll change my name back now.

'Way off onto a tangent, but currently there's a trial in Winnipeg for a Jeremy Skibicki

From the time he was taken into custody, up until about a month ago, the media had been pronouncing it as it's spelled Skib-icki.  Then they switched to Skib-itski ... reading a blurb from his defense lawyers saying that the correct pronounciation has the "t" sound in there.

Any insights/explanations/?? of how ^^ works?

I doubt there's anything we can do about how spellcheck works. It does what it perceives is correct and we at the Hangout don't have any way to change it. It's up to the member to spell the name like he/she wants and then check to be sure the spellcheck didn't override his preferences.

Important point - I don’t believe spellcheck is part of the Hangout - it’s a function of the web browser being used.
