Here we are in Mulrany Ireland
You might enjoy seeing a video of the Malloy Brothers on YouTube

Anyway, Pat, brother of the late Martin, loaned me Martin's old banjo.
It was a 5_string, but he pulled the peg and played it as a four
And, somewhere along the years, the 4th peg button got ruined.
So there I was, trying to play along with the locals, on 3/5ths of a banjo.
And I know that all the stuff I would need, to restore it, is right there in my basement, on the OTHER SIDE of the Atlantic!
Oh the frustration!!??

Sounds like you’re a little bit far away to be coming over here. There’s a banjo here with your name on it so I’ll make the trip up. I’ll be there in about 4hrs. :-)

He found us at Dougherty s, as planned.
Banjo is eucalyptus and bamboo, maybe 1/4 or less the weight of the Washburn.
Rings like silver, shines like gold.
Mary and I got called to the stage, did WALKING CANE with the band.
Love this town!!

Since MartyJoe is from Australia, and is contemplating a move to Ireland...
and since Ireland has NO snakes, and Australia has more than they REALLY need, I offered to make a donation to the Benevolent Society for Returning Snakes to Ireland.

Nobody liked the suggestion

(Weep,weep)!

G'day Mike. Got home ok, as the wheel bearing noise got louder I turned up the radio. Buying a new amplifier for the radio today:-) Anyhow I have a set of Chinese tuners including the 5th string peg that I can mail up to you. Give me a postal address or just nominate a place like one of the pubs and I can get them to you in Fridays mail. Let's get Martin Molloy's old axe playable for Mary!

Ok Mike. The 5 tuners are on the way over there. They were posted at 4:15pm in Mullingar P.O. Today. I addressed them to the pub where we played a few tunes yesterday. Marked attention Mike and Mary Gregory. I would expect them to be there in Thursdays post.

Tuners arrived

Fixed the fourth

Didn't do the fifth, since, as far as I know, it will be played as a four string, like the late great Martin  played it.

Here's a tribute to Martin.

PAT, the sole  remaining member of the band, was our host, during our stay.

Obviously a man that has been there, done that and wore all the tee shirts! And boy did they fit him well.
