I suppose ^^ bears repeating, but from where I sit it's pretty common knowledge.

... a lot of: may contain, may be, may also have, potential concerns, may contribute to, some studies have suggested, etc.

.... very much looking forward to the fried bologna / eggs [and maybe an untraprocessed (?) bagel] for b'fast tomorrow. wink

My motto on eating food: anything in moderation. In other words, if I decide to eat a hotdog, I don't do it every day or even every week. Same with other processed foods. My one downfall is Spam. Yes, Spam. I love it fried and once I open the can, I have to have it everyday until it's gone.

Other than that, eat food that's made from scratch, then you'll know the ingredients.

I'm cooking up a big pot of pinto beans today, dried beans. I can control the salt and the type of meat I put in it. In this case, it's salt pork, which is missnamed because it doesn't have a lot of salt.

Yesterday I fixed a big fruit salad: cut up strawberries, grapes, watermelon, pineapple, all served with a Yogurt/lemon dressing.

Spam, yes indeedy!!   Re. "when it's gone" [i.e. the end of day 2 ... max!] you simply open another can.... livin' the dream, er what?

Unfortunately [or maybe it's fortunately?] my wife isn't a fan, so I probably get a can per year on a camping trip.  sad

We were (Pick one)
[ ] Intelligently Designed
[ ] evolved
to be omnivores.
That means we can eat anything.

And yes, grains and fruits and animals which never did us any real harm had to DIE so we could live.

Our ability to make stuff into food is why we can feed so many, worldwide.

You don't want processed stuff as food, grow your own, slaughter your own.

I was leading a sing-along for some liddle biddle kiddles,

"Coming 'Round the Mountain".
And when I got to the ancient and traditional verse about "We will kill the old red rooster", one of the blue-eyed blondie haired angels in the front row looked at me like I had just said

"We will microwave your puppy, when she comes!"

Teacher explained to me
"We don't teach them that verse. We feel it's too violent."

OK, so those kids get to grow up thinking chicken comes from a drive-through window.
Nothing I can do to help them.

" are what you eat..."

Does this mean I'm Oreo and beer?

"You are what you eat" reminds me of the school teacher who was from Out West somewhere.
She told my sister
"If you are what you eat, then consider this: I grew up eating beef. The cows grew up eating prairie grass. The prairie grass grew up eating soil fertilized by CENTURIES of buffalo poop. THEREFORE: I am mostly buffalo poop."

Hamburger the complete meal on a bun. You get your veggies your dairy if you like cheese you get grains if you use whole grain bun and last but not least your protein. What could be more convenient?

I first heard of the redneck turtle burger yesterday.   It doesn't fit my notion of convenient, though I suppose the bacon and weenies compensates (?) for no bun??
