Is AI now creating ads? My suggestion always gets rejected, but people (or computers) should not be allowed to post For Sale/Trade ads within certain number of days of joining. (And I never consider buying from someone who does not have a history of engaging on the site). Good ads get pushed down the list by the scam ads. Also, ads with no pictures (after a grace period) and those where people provide no info about their location, etc. should be deleted.

While I agree with your idea about new members, we don't punish someone because they don't know the rules, we just ask that they read and follow. If we find out it's a scam, we lock the account and the bogus ad is gone. In other words, we give them the benefit of the doubt until we find out they aren't legit.

I had the same thought and figured maybe it was a spell check error and meant perfect.

I sent a pm to the the seller.  She has a Deering Vega longneck.  She tried to post some photos (which she sent to me)  but her attempt to add them to her listing wasn't successful.

Unfortunately, your pictures didn't come out.  We'd like to see her banjo, so could you try again?

We can all benefit from more kindness in our lives, both given and received. It just seems there are more people looking for a way to be offended than there are looking to be kind. I found an ad for $1800 to buy something unknown to be a little questionable and somewhat humorous on multiple levels. Ignorance of a banjo is understandable. An ad with a price and no identifying item is not.

Yeah… I almost jokingly posted about this same add when I first saw it, though I did curb the impulse.

I do empathize with the loss of a loved one. But this is not a new member of our community. This is someone looking to sell an instrument for $1800, without bothering to present the minimum amount of effort to describe it, give a model number, any information whatsoever.

If you can’t take the time to do that, take it to a pawn shot or the local music store. Ask a relative for help. It’s bad enough the description as presented is easily interpreted as spam — who in there right mind would trust this to be shipped safely, or arrive in any sort of playable condition?

Is $1800 bucks. That’s a lot of money. Be realistic — no one in their right mind is gonna buy it under these circumstances, it’s a waste of time.

Early on, I had seen that the photos that I tried to click and drag did not show up.

I have the photos in an email and downloaded as well. I tried to use the conventional way to add them to a post but that did not work, either.

If anyone here is interested in posting thees photos, send me a pm with your email address and I'll forward them to you.

Well....you certainly hit the nail on the head.

Very sad, but very true. It's also worth pointing

out that the brand of humor is very juvenile

and not even remotely entertaining. We see

this from time to time on the Banjo Hangout....

Some members think it's cute to denigrate an

individual that might have limited knowledge

regarding banjos. Someone might not know

what they have or may use diction that is

incorrect. Then the unkind comments ensue.

I keep wanting to think we are better than this!

If you read my original post, it, along with the topic name, it in effect says only that the ad offered no real information about the banjo. Any other inferences are those of the members.

It's possible we have some "white caps" within our midst ?

OK, I apologize for wanting to see pictures, and posting pictures of pitchers.
I made absolutely NO reference to the claim, in the ad, that the seller is a grieving widow.

When I post something for sale, I never include the claim that I am an orphan, because that should not affect the price.

On the Internet, people can claim pretty much anything.

There was a guy on Facebook who, as a courtesy to the community, warned us that "the Rapture" would occur on April 23rd of this year.
Nice claim, but was it true?

After the 23rd came and went, he posted that it did not happen, for the reason that HE, the original claimant, had FASTED for 23 days.

If it was SUPPOSED to happen then (to make the World a much better place) and he KEPT it from happening, then he is a BAD person!
And if it WASN'T supposed to happen then, he's just another scam artist, making claims on the internet.

I cannot apologize for wanting to see pictures and/or more information, about any item which might interest me, and which is offered for sale.

BY the WAY: My favorite baseball cap was plain white, and I wrote upon it
"Let's talk about my hand-made banjos"
In what way does the color of my headgear indicate that I am a Naughty Person??

Well....is it also possible we have some

"Blue bills" here as well?

If so, I'm sure we can have an attitude of

Inclusiveness. Can we all agree?
