This close to mint OME Plectrum Banjo arrived at my house a week ago. Wonderful tone. I haven’t found a serial number. Can you identify it from these photos? Clearly a Silver Bell shape. Unusual carved back. Is it a Mogul? Grand Mogul? Grand Artist? I bought it from a player who thought it was from the 70s, but no doubt it was no earlier 1993 or 1994, judging by the 1994 catalog. This is my first post. Thanks for your help.

Even more photos, I think.

It appears to be their top of the line "Grand Mogul" model, in the style OME called Classic Jazz.

The carving on the rear of the peghead might have been an optional extra. (I am assuming this because the catalogue from the 1990's shows a mother-of-pearl inlay and backstrap as being standard for the model)

Beautiful instrument!
regards..

Yes, very beautiful instrument!
I would be really surprised if there isn't a serial number. They can be very difficult to see sometimes. The S/N on one I had was small and written on the inside wall of the pot. I was convinced it didn't have one for awhile.
But, maybe there isn't one.
Also the truss rod adjustment is hidden between the neck and the pot if it has one which is pretty likely.

Thanks. I’ve examined it carefully inside and outside the pot but haven’t found it. I hesitate to pull off the neck to look for it.

Okay, I removed the neck and found two numbers behind the heel:
11817 and A90. As best I can tell, OME didn’t make that many banjos. Can anyone explain this to me? Thanks.
