Hey guys.

I was offered this banjo for $100, and i'm considering it since i'm currently looking for an open back.

However, i have been unable to find anything about the maker, "Misti", online. Obviously not a great sign.. Seller is of no help, since he inherited it and doesnt play.

Are you guys able to shed some light on where this banjo came from, or alternatively if you believe the offered price sounds reasonable? Pictures are a bit lacking, but i will be inspecting it physically before buying, if it comes to that.

Thanks in advance.

Looks to me like an old Kay pot grafted on to the Misti neck, using the Kay rod attachment. I have no idea of the neck source. If it plays ok, that’s a good price. It’s a very basic banjo.

The neck looks like a standard 10 a penny mass produced Asian. If it plays and is in reasonably good condition then $100 (US, I assume) is fair, if not a little swayed in the buyers favour imho (based on UK second hand market at least)
