Looking for classical guitar tuners for my open face 7 string English banjo.
Or, actual banjo tuners if available. The ones that came with the banjo are no good.
The size spacing, and the shaft diameter is unusual, apparently; My local luther says:

1-1/4” spacing between shafts, with metal shafts about 1/4”diameter.
Here are photos of the banjo for reference:

You have two options... 1. 3-in-a-row standard tuners for steel strings (opposed to classical guitar ones with the larger white posts) 2. individual steel string tuners 3 per side.
Can you post a side on photo of the tuners?

Jim, that's a nice 7-string. These pattern machine heads were very common on English 6 and 7-string banjos from the 1870's. Often with the same acorn and leaves motif.

The missing button is awkward. But otherwise these machine heads are simple and quite resilient. Seized mechanism can be easily dismantled and usually sorted out. Even a gear missing a tooth can be machined and aged for comparatively little expense. I have had a clockmaker kindly do just this machining. Factory manufactured in large numbers their prevalence on 6 and 7-string banjos and guitars of the same period means that you shouldn't have too much difficulty in acquiring a period replacement from the UK if you need to. If I had a spare set currently you'd be welcome to them. Modern replacement machine heads do tend to stick out like a sore thumb on these banjos. No way round that unfortunately.

Hopefully you can renovate or use a contemporary set as replacements.

I'll have a look and see if I have anything later today Jim. I have one of those banjos that had been screwed to a public house wall as decoration !
