Been listening to old Southern Connection and DLQS videos recently and I'm reminded of how great Scott Vestal's tone was back then. Way different from his Stealth tone, but just as awesome (mostly due to Scott himself, obviously).

Never been able to figure out what banjo he played back then. The video below was several years before the Greg Rich revamp of Gibson (guessing around 83-84), maybe a conversion of sorts? Flying eagle in full effect, but hard to get a good look at the headstock.

Perhaps someone on here knows?

According to this interview in Banjo Newsletter, he has a "pre-war (1933) Granada that is maple, and a 1988 RB-3 that is mahogany."

The original Stealth if I remember reading correctly was based on a 1965 RB250 that he has had for several years. This is from an interview I read years ago. Whether he changed out the rim or anything, I am not sure.
