I have been searching for my first flathead that I had when I was 19 years old and was stolen 42 years ago. I posted a random comment on a Facebook page for pre war Gibson banjos and the person who acquired the banjo said that he owned that banjo. Long story short John Ramsey being the absolute great human sent my banjo back to me. I am still in disbelief

I purchased a old Gibson years ago. By accident, I found it had been stolen in California. I returned the banjo to the post office, Went thru hell with law enforcement in Ca.. I was threatened with arrest,  When i informed the official I had returned the banjo to the P O and to Call this number. His attitude changed,,  Long story short, The post office never sent the banjo back.. I was told by the post office,, they have a auction in Georgia where you bid on sealed merchandise un deliverable I begged them to send the man his banjo. I offered to pay shipping costs,, I did my part,, The post office failed. Your one lucky man,,,

This is definite proof that the world is not totally bad. I have had several things stolen from my 45 years of playing music and I have never had anything returned. It’s good to hear stories like this. To be honest, after my stuff was stolen, I just considered it gone for good and when the law said that they did all they would do I just dropped the search.

Wow, what a great story. You are reunited with a banjo from your youth and John Ramsey: what a good man of highest integrity. Enjoy your banjo. Thanks for sharing this story.

John Ramsey - you are a stand up Human and a Gentleman of the highest order.

Joe- you must have some good Karma on a very high order on your end to have the story go full circle like this.

Best to you both.

I would like to hear more of the story. I imagine it took some back and forth evidence to convince Mr Ramsey it used to be yours and it was stolen.

There was a similar thread a few months back where the victim held onto the police report and photos for 40+ years and finally got the instrument back. It was amazing to see all that old, now historical, evidence. I think I remember thename of that hero whos father is well known here.

Good guys win in the end...

Joe ...... with your streak of luck, I predict that someone will come up with the resonator that you are advertising for in the classifieds!smiley
