Hi everyone

Let me show my stupidity.
How can I point Tabledit to the Ghostcript executable after I have attempted many times?
I have both installed. However, when I attempt to import a .pdf, I get a very quick flash of a blank command prompt screen and then nothing. I have attached the screen shot. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Tabledit to no avail.
Thanks For the help!

You should write to Matthieu Leschmelle as he created Tabledit and can best help you. I've never heard of Ghostscript since I am not the usual engineer that is on BHO. Why don't you simply use Tabledit if you want PDF files?...Jack

I am not sure I understand your question. Are you trying to create a pdf with Tabledit or are you trying to import a pdf file into a program called Ghost Script?

I am far from an expert with Tabledit. I convert a tab to pdf by clicking File>Print preview>Microsoft Print to pdf. There are other programs that allow you to print to pdf, the Microsoft pdf converter is preinstalled on my computer.

I will take the liberty to try to explain the question, I can't answer it. You must have tried to import pdf and pictures to understand the question.

  1. In TablEdit you can import images of tabs and transfer it to TablEdit to make editions and development.
  2. You can also import pdf tabs, but then you need to have this software Ghostcript that makes a picture of pdf.
  3. The problem for George is, apparently, that this procedure does not work. The pdf file is not imported to TablEdit by Ghostscript.

My advice is to contact TablEdit. There is also a TablEdir Group https://groups.io/g/tabledit/topics where you can put questions.

Jan, I think your explanation is quite clear and should be helpful. I used Ghostscript years ago to generate Postscript output when I didn't have access to a Postcsript driver. I didn't realize Ghostscript is still around and useful.

Sounds good.
I've never had the need to use Ghostscript for anything. Tabledit has done fine for all of my tabs. I have been able to Import and Export anything I wanted...Jack

Hi janalov
Thx. Sorry for the confusion.  I am attempting to import  .pdf of sheet music. The purpose would be to then convert this into tabs.

Hi George.

Is your problem fixed?

It seems that even the most experienced TablEdit users are unaware of the program's ability to import images or pdf files representing tablature ;-)

I've made some short videos to explain how it's done:
