The seller apparently does not know the provenance of the neck or tone ring.  I would treat it as a mostly modern parts banjo absent new evidence.

It's not a 1927, because a 1927 should have a 2 piece flange instead of the 1 piece flange shown. The FON is stamped "irregularly", not a mark of a real Gibson. You can see the edges of the Mastertone decal, which is not indicative of a pre-war banjo.

The maple wood looks like, and the white/black binding looks nice, but the only banjo Gibson made pre war with maple and that binding would be a gold plated engraved Granada.

Finally a 1920s Gibson would have a fiddle shaped peghead not a double ct peghead.

The tuners and tailpiece "admission" in the ad is the least of the problems.

It's just NOT a Gibson. A nice enough banjo vaguely resembling a post 1988 Earl Scruggs model, sort of. A little...

Not a £2,000 banjo for sure. Maybe £1,500, but I'd be more comfortable at £1350-1,400.

That FON is not like any 1920’s I’ve seen!! And I’ve seen a lot!!!
Sticker seems implausible too!!

The sticker is definitely a fake. Earnest Banjos has it as the second fake on his page.
