I'm not sure if this is relevant to my reason for posting here, but I have about 5 years of Banjo Newsletters in bindings. I was a subscriber for a long long time.

I want to purchase a tab from their website. I have absolutely no problem paying for services and goods even though there are probably ways to skirt payments. That said, in order to purchase a tab from that site, you need to log in. I find plenty of hyperlinks to allow me to log in, and even a link to let me create an account. However, I either never created an account there, or long ago forgot the password I created. The link to let you create a new account only sends me to a page where I can enter my existing username and password.

I'm flummoxed. Has anyone found a way around this impenetrable website?

I've deliberately not given the song title I want to buy because I don't want to tempt someone into doing me a favor by sending me their copy.

Would also like to subscribe/create an account/give them my money, if only there was a way...

Rob and Fred,
The site BNL is basically finished and no longer available after an incredible long history. Look elsewhere for tabs....Jack   p.s. yes, there are a few tricky ways to enter the Old site... but you would need your old password and username...

If you can't log in, can't rejoin/join and can't download what you need, then may I suggest you look for another, similar tab. There might even be one right here on the Hangout.

If you know who posted the tab in the Banjonewsletter, maybe you could contact him/her and get a copy that way.

If all else fails, put the title on here and maybe someone will have the specific tab.

If you are looking for one tab, which one is it? If you have an account you can find some of them, at least I can.

I think some of the younger members of the family are going to make it a little more active in the near future. I hope so. It was a treasured magazine and part of life.

If they’re out of business I’m sure the Nitchies wouldn’t mind if someone sent you the tab.

There is usually a place on your computer where passwords are stored, however you need your computer password to access it/them. banjered

The tab I was after is "Missing Vassar" from the June 2018 issue. The article is by Bob Piekiel, and he says the tab is straight from the way Jim Mills played it. I spent a good amount of time trying all my old passwords and none of them worked.

What an unusual situation. Anyone who got an account prior to the shutdown has unlimited access, anyone (me) who tries to keep a minimal internet footprint and missed the boat doesn't get a chance to wait for the next one. I guess I'm limited to the 2000 - 2010 issues I have in my bookshelf and three articles online a month, as long as I don't need to see the tab.

Although I feel like a novice most times, I don't think that old information from when I created my account still defines me.  I've been on stage for a few (very lightly attended) shows since then.  Thank you, Jack! and all the otters who've been so positive here.

If anyone still has an account that works, if you could grab me Danny Barnes's "Falling Hard" tab on Banjo Newsletter I would be grateful.

Hope someone takes over the site it would be a shame to lose all that great banjo data.

Not necessarily. I thought I had a live account, since I had gained access within the last year, but subscriptions expire. I just discovered mine did. And as noted above, there's no longer any way to extend an existing subscription or sign up for a new one.

I guess others made their most recent subscription payments later than I did, so they still have access for a while. I don't recall BNL offering more than two years at a time. So sooner or later, everyone's log-ins will stop working. Or the family will take the site down -- seeing as it's costing money without any apparent new revenue to pay for it.

As I said earlier there will soon be some new activity on the Banjo Newsletter page with some of the younger family members doing it. my source is Donald Nitchie. Maybe some of you should write him and express your interest in having more access to the pages. It is a wonderful resource.

Do you know which newsletter? Month and year and maybe one of us would have that particular one. If BNL is pretty much out of business, they probably wouldn't mind one of us copying and sending you a tab.

I heard from a member of the Nitchie family that they plan to revive the Banjo Newsletter web site soon. Until then, they would appreciate that we share only materials from the articles and hold off from sharing the tabs which have monetary value on the web site.

Thank you David. BNL did such a great job of putting the banjo forth and starting a  community. There might not have been a hangout had it not been for Banjo Newsletter. AND after seeing everything, BNL offered some quality insights and instructions that we do not here on the hangout.

I'm sure most of us here would LOVE to see BNL resurrected!
