I want to get a good resonator Banjo that I can use for a while and not have to upgrade. I have narrowed my choices down to these 2. Which one offers more bang for the buck? Both have excellent reviews. I need help deciding, I am leaning more towards the OB-150 but am not 100% sure yet.

The OB150 has a more desirable 3 ply rim, rather than a multi-ply rim. The biggest difference, however, is the tone ring, bell brass versus rolled brass flat bar. That accounts for much of the 3 pound difference in the two banjos, with the OB150 coming in at 11.5 pounds. There probably isn't a significant difference in the hardware. However, the BG has a "flat flange", whatever that means, and the OB has a cast flange. I have an OB150 and I think you would be pleased with the tone (and volumn).

There's no competition here as they are very different. Unless you need a lighter weight banjo without a full flathead tone ring and the full bluegrass twang then it has to be the OB150.

The OB150 is a standard Bluegrass banjo with a three-ply rim, one piece cast flange, and a heavy tone ring. It is going to be a lot more responsive, sound wise, and will last a lifetime.
The BG150F is a lighter weight banjo with a multi ply rim and a rolled brass hoop that sits in a routed ledge. It is constructed with bracket shoes and a flat plate flange like the plate of an old Gibson tube and plate design. The design is sometimes referred to as shoe and plate. It will have a decent sound and can last you for a long time but, unless you want a lighter weight banjo, you will probably want to trade up at some point.
