Almost the whole tunes/songs that became standard in traditional jazz were born in the first half  of the twentieth century.

Stunning Marco. I love the fact that you almost understate this piece when so many people try to play it so fast that it leaves you feeling frantic. You are such a tasteful, all-round musician.

My mother was a Dixieland fan, so I’ve been listening to this song for 75 years or so. Still a great piece—well-chosen and played, Marco.

Marco,
A great choice. I hope those other three guys (on your video) are helping you pay the rent.  wink

Great Marco! Good solo playing. My first love in jazz (Some 60 odd years ago)-- and still is--was
'The Hot Club Of France'. Your rhythm section reminds me of that--swinging and driving. All you need to find is a Stephane Grappelli to add. It is a pity we do not live closer!

Sadly over here in the UK 'Gypsy Jazz' style jazz is hard to find, always has been.

Marco, I’ve come to expect exactly what I get with all of your videos: high levels of musicality, style, class, and a very high swing quotient. You certainly didn’t let me down with this one. ‘Fabulous!

Laurence, Bill, Omeboy, Michael, Tony, Your support encourages me to continue, even if I'm losing the desire to play a bit: I'm 80 years old and, furthermore, playing exclusively by ear imposes insurmountable limits on me that I don't like at all. Michael, my approach to jazz was similar to yours, when I was 7/8 years old: Django, Grappelly, Hot 5/7, Benny Goodman then bebop, cool jazz etc., up to the so-called "free" jazz. The latter has dampened my enthusiasm a bit even though there is still some good music out there.

Thank you each one for your comments! cuore
