I got a template on line for a 25.5 scale fret board. While I was waiting for delivery I printed one from wfret.. I did it twice to be sure I called for the right thing 25.5” 5 strings.
THEY DON’t MATCH! What am I doing wrong and which version should I trust?
The paper template from wfret is 12.5” to the 12th fret. The plastic one with the so called “Lazer cut” is 12 7/8ths
So I guess I answered my own question.. use the wfret because it measure correct.
Then complain and return the one from CBGitty.. they fail!

25.5" scale should be 12.75", nut to 12th fret, shouldn' t it ?

Doesn't look to me that either one of your templates are correct

Oh yeah, late night math I guess.. now I’m really puzzled. My ruler just woke up too. The plastic template is 12.75 to the 12 so I guess it's the correct scale. I can't explain what happened with Wfret.. pretty sure I selected 25.5 (twice)

thanks for the wake-up Reostat.

Anything you (or anybody else) print out needs to be measured in all dimensions for accuracy. Unless you have an industrial precision printer, you will almost always need to adjust your scaling to get the proper print dimensions.

If you want to use an online generator, try ekips. It gives you the dimensions of every single fret. Measure at the 12th, at the last fret, then measure the widths.

Aaron @awildman , I'm looking at ekips /Fret2Find..... ekips.org/tools/guitar/fretfind2d/

and it all seems to be for a guitar.... Is that right? You have to enter string gauges for 6 strings. ...

Does anyone know where I can just buy a template like you can for electric guitars? I looked on CBGitty and also couldn't see a 5 string banjo option. I may be going blind in my dotage
best wishes
Steve

Ok correcting myself....I saw you can change number of strings to 5....so the fret marking will work. But it doesn't generate a plan of the neck shape?
