is scheduled to appear March 9 in Sutter Creek in the foothills east of here. He is 92. I remember presenting him ca. 1965 when I was in college.

Thanks for the notice -- and the memories.
One he emerged from Woody's shadow he proved himself a hell of a talent in his own right.
Loved his work with Derrol Adams.
And remember that long, yes, rambling, story about going down to New Orleans to find Billy Faier?
Keep on ramblin', Jack!

I didn't know it at the time, but I saw The Rolling Thunder Revue" play in '76 and Rambling Jack was in that band.
10 years later I played music one morning on a Maine island with a guy named Robin who said he played dobro with Rambling Jack Elliott.

Touring at 92.
He sure lives his name!

What a rambler,, I saw him once, at Mariposa Folk Festival in Toronto. He was in his usual cups and extended his set so long that Gordon Bok came on next and said Jack left me time for only 3 songs. I had his Young Brigham album ,, Johnny Cash wrote the liner notes for it. I think he was living in a boxcar in Texas at that time.

Gordon Bok -- there's another hell of a talent.
Did a lot of his ramblin' on blue water under sail.
We Downeasters are some proud of him!

Gordon used to come to some of our Sail Power and Steam Sunday jams, but I haven't noticed him in a couple of years.
I believe he and our Capt. Jim Sharp are old pals.

There's a pretty good documentary film about Ramblin' Jack that was made as I recall by his daughter.

Being a Billy Faier fan, I'd love to hear the Ramblin' Jack / Faier story. Is it recounted anywhere?

(+1 on the Ramblin' Jack documentary.)
