Just received today. I may (or may not) get around to posting pix…. But…it’s an 11” walnut block pot, turned to half an inch and tapered to the outside edge where the head seats. Walnut neck; tigerwood fretboard and peghead overlay; full 22-frets. Remarkably loud, but of course with no metallic overtones. Under $1,300, shipping and all. Doing business with Steve Gerritsen is a pleasure. He’s easy to work with and there was a good choice of woods, fittings and looks. Turnaround time was well under five months. I have a nice new lightweight banjo that I will likely be playing fairly often. I highly recommend Steve and Stone Banjo.

Ditto! The detailed design and precision of his craftsmanship is simply amazing! I am also amazed that his craftsmanship is superior to many other luthiers who have been going at it much longer than he. I have one of his 12" wood tone ring banjo that I put Minstrel Nylgut strings on and play at the farmer markets and always get compliments on its tone. The wood is beautiful and I like the brass hardware. His is the best deal around for a new, high quality banjo. banjered

This is my second one. I bought #4, I think, a while back, and gave it to my niece. Steve’s work impressed me then, which is why I sought him out when I wanted something different from the heavier tone-ring banjos I usually play.

Mine is in the same batch as yours, it’s in the mail now. It was a pleasure working with Steve and I am anxiously awaiting my new banjo!
