Just ordered a New Rk-20 Songster. Will be here next week. Very excited and determined. This is my 2nd go around trying to learn the Banjo. I have been playing Guitar since the last try 4 years ago, so hope that helps. Anyway, I have a beautiful Guitar strap and I was wondering if I tied leather through the holes on the strap and into the brackets of the banjo, or wherever it goes on the rim. Would that work for just sitting and playing for now?

That will work.  Just tie it to the brackets.

Might work for sitting. I think guitar straps tend to be too short. But worth a try. Tie one lace to a hook near the tailpiece and one to a hook near the neck that it will reach.

Banjo straps reach to the first string side of the neck and support the neck. A guitar strap might only reach the 5th string side and so the neck might want to dive. You'll just hold it up with your fretting hand.

You can buy leather strip adapters with Chicago screws at most music stores and web sites that work fine with guitar straps.

I have a leather guitar strap and I use a camping paracord string as an extension and use it as a cradle strap, the string goes all the way around the rim.

Belts and guitar straps are shorter

Since you are seated your solution is fine

If standing , hook the neck under the neck heel and around under the tailpiece so the banjo leans towards your body
