Did Gibson make a RB-350 banjo?

Yes, they made one in 1976 for the bicentennial. It looked pretty much like a standard RB250, but it had an eagle engraved on the resonator. This is the only picture of one that I could find.

I don't believe the "eagle" was engraved. I believe it was pressed into the wood. I have a friend that owns one and it is exactly a style 250 with the "eagle" resonator.

I suppose engraved was the wrong word. Late at night, and in a hurry to find a picture to add within the 15 minute deadline, I am not at my cognitive best.

Mark, I was in no way calling you out about your description of these banjos! It was more to educate those involved in this thread about what these banjos are really like; simply because there aren't that many examples out there. So, I apologize for coming across as being critical of your description. I wish you and your family the happiest of holidays!

I do not think the one at GC is an RB350, from the pics it is more likely an RB.

I can see exactly where Mark or anyone would think that. It’s a special bicentennial model, emotions were high. There was lots of bicentennial models of this or that, even Harmony. Gibson took the hydraulic press route, I guess. Wonder where they had those resonators pressed with the screaming chicken? Surely they didn’t buy a press just for a one year run. Kasuga built used them (Denver belle, whyte eagle, Bella Donna).
So, did Gibson contract with Kasuga and send stock over for pressing?

And the screaming chicken vernacular is also used by trans-am collectors in slang, for the models from 70s with decal hoods also. And I mean zero disrespect using the slang vernacular.

It may have been touted in 1976 as a Bicentenniel model but it was not advertised as such in the 1975 catalog where it first appeared.

In fact, it wasn't the only banjo with an eagle in the back that year.
