I am trying to find out how to replace the plastic tuner button for my 2003 Gold Tone WL-250. They are the slightly larger button Gold Tone calls the A size. I do not mean how to get them. I ordered them and got them in a day or so after ordering them from Gold Tone, but I thought I would find instructions somewhere on how to replace them. Normally, we have a great banjo luthier at the Amp shop in West Palm, but she is recovering from a serious operation.
Is this a job I can trust myself to do, or reserve until I find a luthier. Help!
It's fairly easy to change the button. There should be a screw that holds the button on to the tuner. Remove the button, pull off the old one, put on the new one, and screw it on. Be aware that you should detune that strings. If you don't , the string tension will spin the shaft of the tuner. Actually this is probably a good time take the old strings off, replace the buttons and then restring.
quote:Thanks, that is is exactly what Gold Tone told me.:
"You just unscrew the philips head screw and swap them out. You will need to get the screw pretty tight for the tuner to work properly."
Yeah it is about time to give this banjo a total work over, new strings, clean and oil the finger board
