However, $25 does in fact, seem like way too much for a T-shirt!
Great that it's all cotton....and high quality material.
But $25 is way out of my comfort zone for a T-shirt!
Actually, $25 is not a bad price. In fact that's about an average price for most themed tee's. I have recently paid more than $25 for a tee. I would buy one but I prefer a 3X size and I see that 2X is their largest.

Ok....
You're entitled to your opinion...
I'm entitled to mine.
I'm not a buyer at that price.
And I've heard from some banjo buddies who agree with me that $25 is just way too much for a T-shirt with a few words.

Then there should be a significant demand for them. He should sell hundreds of them ( or maybe thousands).
I wish him well.

My response is not an opinion. It is a fact. There are many printed tee shirts on the market, such as eBay, Cafepress, Amazon, and others that cost $25 or more. Like I said, I recently bought a couple that cost a little more than $25. A lot of what goes into the cost is the material and the size. Look up a few such as a shirt with the Gibson, or Fender or Guild or Martin or Epiphone logo or others and see what they are selling for. You will probably be surprised. If you don't want one, then don't buy one. Let the man sell his tee shirts. Don't criticize his price.

If a t-shirt has emblazoned on it:
"Frank's Hot Pretzels"..... I consider that an advertisement.
NOT a themed T-shirt! LOL!
Cannot speak to where you live... but I have numerous T-shirts that
were given to me because it was an advertisement for a business.
Most businesses were happy to have the free attention!
Asking me to buy your shirt.... AND advertise for you.
No thank you!

As long as we can express our opinions on here...
I will express mine!
Get off your high horse!
No one is stopping the man from selling his shirts!
Please spare me the hyperbole!

I think you are talking semantics. Themed vs. advertisement. Maybe you should just email Ceres Banjo Works and tell him that because you and a few of your "banjo buddies" think that his price is too high, he should lower it. Or, better still, he should just send you and your friends some "free" tee shirts. You could probably convince him to do so.

I think it's great that Jim is selling Ceres shirts now. I've been considering selling my own shirts. But if the response I'm going to get is the same response as Mark Douglas has given Jim's shirts, I don't think I'm getting in on that.
I agree, $25 is more that I personally would want to spend on cotton T-shirt. I regularly wear UA Moisture-wicking shirts, priced at $18+, but I'm willing to pay the extra money for a shirt that allows my sweat to dry off me faster, and they don't stick to my sweaty skin either. It's a huge win in my opinion.
That said, I know others who would be glad to pay $25 on a themed cotton shirt, if nothing else, for the "cool" factor of wearing a branded shirt. I know people who told me they'd buy shirts from me just because they think it'd be cool to have a LB&S T-shirt.
Be glad you have a choice to not support advertisers in the banjo world. As a kid, I used to see bicyclers wearing their gear with advertisements all over the place. I assumed with my child mind that they were all posers wanting to look like pros. Years later as a semipro motocross rider I found it was impossible to find gear without manufacturers advertisements all over it. Buy a pair of "Alpinestars" boots, they have their logos all over the boots and still give you a sticker they hope you put on your dirtbike...lol
25 bucks is nothing compared to what logod mx shirts cost and you must wear a mx jersey to compete. You can chose not to buy this shirt and still play the banjo. it includes shipping, its a deal!

Okay, that's enough. A member has a right to his opinion. You may not agree, but that's no reason to get rude, snarky, nasty or anything else.
This back and forth will stop right now or there will be time outs.
Let's try to act adult and like gentlemen, please.
Ceres has a right to sell their T-shirts for whatever price they want to. If you want one, buy one. If you think the price is too high, don't.
End of discussion!

I think I'll buy another one for Haskel. :D :D :D ...and one for my son, one for my son-in-law, and if he has a couple size small, for my Akitas. :D Oh and one more for my Grandaughter.
100% cotton is all I can wear. Polyester junk makes me sweat...it's like an allergy.
Title: The Benefits of Cotton Clothing over Polyester for the Comfort of a Banjo Player
Abstract:
This dissertation explores the advantages of cotton clothing over polyester for the comfort of banjo players. While both cotton and polyester fabrics have their merits, banjo players can greatly benefit from choosing cotton due to its breathability, moisture-wicking properties, and overall comfort. This research aims to shed light on how the choice of clothing material can impact the comfort and performance of banjo players, ultimately enhancing their musical experience.
Introduction
Banjo playing is a unique and intricate musical art form that requires precision, dexterity, and concentration. Comfort plays a crucial role in enabling musicians to perform at their best, and one often-overlooked aspect of comfort is the choice of clothing material. Cotton and polyester are two commonly used fabric types for clothing, each with its own set of characteristics. This dissertation delves into the reasons why cotton clothing is preferable to polyester for the comfort of banjo players.
Breathability
One of the primary benefits of cotton clothing for banjo players is its breathability. Cotton is a natural fiber with an open structure that allows air to circulate freely through the fabric. This property is particularly advantageous for musicians, as it helps in regulating body temperature during performances. When playing the banjo, musicians can become warm and sweaty, especially during lengthy and energetic performances. Cotton's breathability helps to wick moisture away from the body, keeping the player cooler and reducing discomfort.
Moisture-Wicking Properties
Cotton excels in its ability to absorb and wick away moisture from the body. This is a crucial advantage for banjo players who may experience perspiration during their performances. Polyester, on the other hand, is known for its moisture-trapping properties, which can lead to discomfort, chafing, and a sticky feeling. In contrast, cotton clothing efficiently absorbs and disperses moisture, ensuring that the banjo player remains comfortable and focused on their performance.
Comfort and Feel
Cotton clothing is renowned for its soft and comfortable feel against the skin. Banjo players often spend extended periods practicing or performing, and the comfort of their clothing can greatly affect their overall experience. Cotton's natural fibers create a smooth and pleasant sensation, which can enhance the player's concentration and enjoyment during play. Polyester, although durable, can sometimes feel less comfortable and may lead to skin irritation in prolonged use.
Durability and Maintenance
While cotton clothing offers numerous benefits for banjo players, it is important to note that polyester has its place as well. Polyester is highly durable and resistant to wear and tear. However, for the purpose of comfort during banjo play, the advantages of cotton typically outweigh the benefits of polyester. Cotton may require more care in terms of laundering and ironing, but the comfort it provides makes it a worthwhile choice.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the choice of clothing material can significantly impact the comfort and performance of banjo players. Cotton clothing stands out as the superior option over polyester for several reasons, including its breathability, moisture-wicking properties, comfort, and overall feel. Banjo players who prioritize their comfort during performances should consider selecting cotton garments to enhance their musical experience. While polyester has its merits, the unique demands of banjo playing make cotton the preferred choice for comfort-conscious musicians.
