I built an open back banjo a few years ago and used Gotoh planetary tuners with amber knobs. I'm thinking of changing the four tuners on the headstock to Rickard Cyclone tuners. I would really like to keep the knobs amber, but Rickard's only options are boxwood, black plastic, or ivory. Does anyone know if any other manufacturer's knobs (e.g., Gotoh, Five Star, Waverley, other) are compatible with the Rickard Cyclone tuners? I sent an email to info@rickardbanjos.com a couple of weeks ago asking this question but never heard back.

I’m pretty sure they are standard. I have bought a few sets of Rickard tuners and used my existing knobs before.

The amber knobs I have manufactured for Gotoh planet tuners fit Rickard tuners. I have tested them and they fit nicely.

What Bob says. I've played knob roulette with my Rickard and GOTOH tuners. The knobs are interchangable.
