I own a Rickard Maple Dobson banjo that was made prior to the advent of the Cyclone 10:1 tuners. I’m ready to purchase a set of those, but I’m wondering about the Cyclone fifth string tuner. Is it significantly better than the older planetary fifth (as 1-4 are), or is the difference not as marked as it is for 1-4? Asking because I see that four-string sets are available, too. Will totally buy set of five if fifth also a mega improvement. Who has firsthand experience? Thanks!

Glad I thought to ask. Thanks.

Nearly all geared 5ths made today are 8:1. Most are re-branded GOTOH although there are a few that are not.
