Well this is Thomas Denslow
I have a little Deeper Raspy voice like a majority of men do , and I like to sit back in my easy chair and play, Sometimes I get a little kinky and sing, which is from bad to worse. I had listened to others on this site reference to (banjohangout.org/archive/2730020) Well I broke down and took this old Epiphone , I had bought actually from This page many years ago And they had put a tone ring in (white lady) I believe. They did a good job, but it was a little too powerful for this open back banjo. So I stuffed a bunch of old socks, under the head and it worked. I've always been partial to E tuning (I have five long necks). So I ordered in some John Hartford D tuning low strings, And tuned it to E. I'm lazy, So I put the capo on the third fret, tuned to standard tuning, change the fifth string to an E. What a difference, I can sit back and actually play a song , and my voice isn't stretched. I use, standard Chord forms, And locations. Plays Great, It increases the volume and tone. Big thing I don't have to stuff socks inside anymore . It seems to limit the ringing . It really helps I've played now, Standard clawhammer and Seeger Style (Up Picking) I will put my pics on sometime next week if I can wait that long ,take care of my friends
