this old man back in the 70s use to come by the shop who said he use to ride a truck over black mountain and would have to step out every few miles and slop grease on the chain of the drive gear or worm drive with a giant brush and a giant bucket of grease on the truck,,, rain snow or shine,,,, now thats trucking !!!!
Neat photos. Unfortunately my great great grandfather was killed during a stormy night in Anderson County, SC when the train he was a conductor on crashed down into Broadway Creek when the wooden trestle failed due to the storm undermining the abutment. He was killed on this very day, June 17, 1876. A couple of days later there was a Coroners Inquisition, which I guess was done for every death even in that era.
Dunno if it's posed, but if not, the looks on these guys' faces tells me there might be an interesting (?) backstory.
