This is about as "other" as it gets. This is more like a one man play than a music video. Honestly, it took me a minute or two to decide if I wanted to keep listening. By 4 minutes I was drawn in, and by the end it was one of my favorites. 4 months on YouTube with 11 million views. This link is "Hi Ren"  by Ren (Ren Gill)  youtu.be/s_nc1IVoMxc

That's pretty interesting stuff, not exactly easy listening. It's innovative and I like it even if I can't see me listening to this for recreation. In any case it is good to hear new stuff that is so far off the mainstream but popular nontheless. And I just love the sound of English English.

He is very talented. It came off so authentic and sincere because he's been through it, from what I've read.

I guessed that much. To me the main quality of any form of art is to convey feelings (pleasant and unpleasant). He sure achieves that but the predominant feeling in his songs seem to be anxiety. I listened to quite a few of them, and like I said, I like them.

Great news, from a fan's perspective. As an independent artist, Ren Gill just got a #1 UK Billboard album . :)

I don't like celebrating anger. That's not entertainment for me.

I don't either. Neither does Ren. Neither does this video.

Thoughtful analysis, but I see your point ...

I can appreciate that. Not really playlist material. Not really even a song. more like a one man play. Certainly not commercial.

I enjoyed it and appreciate that he can express his journey like that.

And I thought the nod to Twilight Zone (the orderly) was a nice touch.

I'm a little overwhelmed by his creativity. It's not a genre I've ever heard. They're calling it "Bardcore." Ren had Lyme disease that was undiagnosed for years. Instead, he was being treated for psychosis. He finally got a correct diagnosis, and is currently being treated for the actual problem.

Ah, I can relate. I had multiple misdiagnoses as well: lupus, fibromyalgia, Parkinson's, chronic fatigue, MS - you name it, they threw it at me in an effort to categorize my symptoms. Each diagnosis was devastating - and wrong, with life-altering effects.

Wishing him all the good things this world has to offer.

I can fully understand that somebody wouldn't like to listen to Ren's music. It isn't easy listening. His lyrics are both mature and juvenile at the same time and many people above 30 years of age won't be able to relate to them. But if a person doesn't see the outstanding creativity in his compositions and his virtuouso playing/singing/rapping, well, then that's that.
