I rarely used this uncommon Gibson "Trapdoor", a short neck tenor. It's an old boy but it's still playable.

Are you using a Music Minus One kind of thing to play with? I remember the old LPs like that. I have a 17 fret Vega but I usually play 5 string. It is heavy and loud.

Bob, I also get an old LP containing some backing tracks, but here  I used a track I've found in Band-In-A-Box. Tha main instrument used by the late Eddy Davis was a 17 fret banjo too: a shorter neck can can facilitate quick transitions and get a quite different tone. Thank you for your comment!
