I don't know how to do this one on the banjo.  I guess my default is to always start a capella. And then if I can add a little banjo something in those in-between spaces. Any other ideas? Help?

My first thought was to listen to the lap/pedal steel in the background and emulate that. In those in-between spaces. Way in the background volumn-wise and pretty simple as I hear it. There are some old posts here on the HO on using a slide on a banjo.

What?  You mean you can't just patch a bunch of licks together?  First the "foggy mountain lick," then "the square roll," etc.  Or follow the "it's-your-banjo-play-it-any-way-you want" advice.  smiley

Seriously, there are some songs that are not suited to the banjo, same as some songs not suited to the trumpet or another instrument.   This is one of them.  I'd sit out on this one.
