Good morning! I am looking for an easy to use application. All I want to do is make tabs for all my licks, rolls, various sequences etc to be used as a reference since I can’t even recall what I had for breakfast. I won’t be composing. Just fill in a lined measure with tab notes. Yes I could do it by hand but I prefer computer generated.
I see there are several apps out there, just looking for a recommendation for an idiot proof one. Thanks
Hi
I can thoroughly recommend Tabledit. I'd say it's by far the most widely used of the various applications out there. I've also used Guitar Pro, and that is also good but I much prefer Tabledit. It's the application of choice for many of the really prolific tab-writers here on the Hangout. Here's a link tabledit.com/download/index.shtml
I agree with HSmith: Tabledit is the most wisely used app. You can download a demo here: tabledit.com/tefview/index.shtml.
I think you can save 16 bars and for what you're needing, hopefully, that would be enough. Try it and see if you like it. The demo is free.
Deering recently published a blog post with tips on writing banjo tab:

I've got tabledit, but I rather enjoy the TuneFox app.
The content man, Jordan Riehm (banjo man for Kentucky Shine) ...is most responsive and has been a pleasure to deal with.
Mind you, it's not an app allowing you to create new TAB, although perhaps if asked, they may develop it out that way in the future.
