“vir·tue sig·nal·ing

noun: virtue signalling
the public expression of opinions or sentiments intended to demonstrate one's good character or social conscience or the moral correctness of one's position on a particular issue.
"it's noticeable how often virtue signaling consists of saying you hate things" “

which gets me thinking, Bill ; is a protest march or convoy (Owen's favourite) a virtue signal?
(btw, I have no problem bringing extra attention to ecological issues)

Virtue signaling is engaging in activities which have no real effect on the problem at hand but only serve to signify that one is "doing something" about this important issue, and is therefore a right-thinking person worthy of regard.

Tidal power seems like a good idea until the whales show up. Have you been keeping up with the mammals that are washing ashore on the New Jersey shores? Look into it and decide if those wind turbines are worth the carnage.

This paragraph has got me scratching my head.

“Scientists who study whale strandings say there's no known link between wind turbines and whale deaths, although they continue to probe what role, if any, wind development has in whale deaths. So far, evidence for a link is little more than speculation.Feb 18, 2023”

No correlation? for years no whales show up on the beach and for some odd reason now they are showing up? Any thing changed recently? Environmentalist preach how sensitive the whales are to changes in their environment but now there something that has change not a peep from them.

There are plans to build wind turbines in the gulf off the cost of Louisiana. I say go for it but when the next Cat 4 hurricane has Louisiana in it's cross hairs don't say We didn't tell you so oh and by the way while you are at it go clean up those dead pelicans.

Changes that have occurred are the ocean temperatures and currents.

I remember whale beachings back in the 60's, long before wind turbines showed up.  It is not a new phenomenon, and there is no direct corelation between wind turbines and any increase in whale beachings.  Monitoring the situation is the right thing to do.  I remember finding a stranded whale on a Cape Cod beach when I was in the Boy Scouts sometime around 1965.

Manatees are now showing up as far north as Long Island, New York, is that a result of wind turbines too? Oh I know, they are giant fans pulling the manatees northward.

Reminds me of a visit to Washington DC to visit with the with the Chief Architect of the EPA.  As he was showing us around their offices we cam acroos a room filled with boxes of post cards and one of our group asked what they were.  They we post cards mailed in by members of the Sierra Club about an environmental issue before congress.  I asked him how much effect those cards would have on the issue before them and his answer ....... "None".

That's funny, because I've heard a senator say that the only reason what he called "common sense gun control" was not enacted was because of all the postcards from NRA members.

A man was walking along a beach that was littered with starfish. He came upon a boy that was picking up starfish and throwing them back into the ocean. The man said to the boy "Why are you wasting your time, you cannot possible make a difference? There are too many starfish washed up on the beach." The boy then picked up another starfish and threw it into the ocean and said to the man "It made a difference to that one!"
