Please help me identify this banjo that belonged to my late husband. It was suggested I visit this site for assistance. Any help would be appreciated! Happy to provide additional pictures since limited on uploads.

Please post more pix, including the rear of the round shell, the entire banio and the peghead, front and back.

We'll need more pictures to identify (if that's possible) the make and model, but from those first 3, I'm pretty sure that what you have there is a tenor banjo, made during the 1920's or 30's (probably in the USA), and that it's not rare or collectible.

I agree with Dan Gellert. Tenor banjo (probably 17 frets, judging by the few visible fretboard inlays.) Not of much monetary value. Probably fun to play, though.

I am new to the site, but it keeps saying I can only upload three pictures.  Is there a way to upload more that I am not seeing.  I have about twenty five pictures that would certainly help but can figure out how to add more than three.

You can only upload three at a time, but can repeat as needed. That’s how posts get multiple pix.

Upload them to your homepage like you did the first ones.

The hexagonal "shoes" and the tailpiece along with those inlays point towards a banjo contemporary with that Grover bridge from '60's or much earlier.
Your additional pictures will be most helpful, the headstock or peghead where the tuners are will show a shape and other telltale features.

The hooks are flat hooks , the "Tension Hoop" is the metal band around the top of the rim, pot, round thingy and it is a grooved type, so this is a lesser feature banjo,   If it had round hooks and a notched tension hoop, it would likely have 20, 22, or 24 hooks.

The inlays are looking really good for an older type of banjo.

I am glad you shared with us.  Gives the guys somethin' ta do.

(Aside) now we all know why 16 hooks are not as good as 18. ( ):)==::}

Ok I just took pictures and pulled some from my library. I got a message about posting up to 5 pictures to my profile. Let me know if you see additional pictures. I really really appreciate your help. Wish I had been more involved in Dirks instruments besides just enjoying his strumming.
