Here's another one from the Sam Bayard collection. This one is on Mark Tamsula and Richard Withers album 'up in the batten house'. Thanks for watching.

That's some great picking, Zach, and a really neat tune.  I've learned a few tunes from both of the Bayard books, Hill Country Tunes, and Dance to the Fiddle, March to the Fife.  Those Pennsylvania tunes have the elegance of the New England contra dance tunes, and the kick of the southern Appalachian tunes.

Nice hammerin', Zach.
When I was kid in Maine we used to chant, "Who hit Nellie in the belly with a flounder?"
A local variant, I guess.

Don Borchelt I agree. There is something unique about these tunes that I love.
Tim Jumper thats funny. Any idea where that chant came from?

No idea at all. It's probably just one of those many untraceable bits of anonymous doggerel that get passed down from year to year through the schoolyard grapevine.
