Worlds First no glue bolt together block and peg wood Banjo rim. It took a while but I finally did it. A rim kit with no glue.
IT weighs 1 LBS 1o OZ made from kiln dried soft maple.
I have made one from mahogany and it weighs much less.
When making this rim design I was not thinking of it sounding better than other rims . I just wanted people to have fun building their own rim. Like building a model car kit. The next phase is seeing if the holes for the shoes can be predrilled while the blocks are being made. so the builder only needs sand paper to make a complete open back banjo pod.
3/16/2023 I went ahead and made a BHO sales thingy BHO ADV banjohangout.org/classified/98403 in case anyone wants one. 1 for $80 and 2 for $100. Still working on the 2 for 100 BHO adv. I should have a tube tone ring coming today and will put a head on the rim and post pics .

I'm not sure. I'll go weight it. I can post the weight .Its for an open back banjo. designed so that you only need to sand the out and inside. I suppose you could make it lighter by getting longer studs and gluing the rim then remove the studs and it would be lighter and holy . No religious puns intended. :)

Originally posted by NewBlackDakI wonder if you could ditch the metal hardware and draw bore dowel it. No metal, no glue, and all wood.
Sure can. My next step is to extend the center blocks out 1/2 inch and drill holes in it so all u need is lugs . no shoes.

So the Album title list would go like this?
1. You picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel.
2. All you need is lugs.
