I've also tabbed my arrangement. The tab is not an exact note-for-note transcription, but it does capture the general sequence, and the variations I play. Also note that this arrangement is set in the standard G tuning, but I play it in the key of C, which made the fretting much easier for clawhammer style. Letters above the tablature lines indicate chords.

Thanks for listening, and I hope you enjoy!

Thanks Jack! Played this on guitar for my son 36 years ago and now I'll be able to play it on the banjo for my grandson!

Simply beautiful. And beautiful in its simplicity.

I've been working on this off-and-on for years in three-finger in C, G, and even a stab at D and have never been able to get it to flow like this. The timing in 3/4 is throwing me off.  None of the three-finger versions I've looked at for inspiration are as inspiring.

It sounds so good in clawhammer -- and does your clawhammer playing.

What a way to start the day.

Thank you for sharing.

Jerry - Fantastic! Glad that I could help carry on the tradition.

Thanks Ken!  When I started working on a rendition, I was dubious about it working out an relatively simple clawhammer version that had a strong melody line.  But I was still trying to play it in G, in G tuning.  Playing it in C in the G tuning really boiled it down for clawhammer, without losing any of the beauty of the melody.  I added a bunch of subtle variations, and you can pick and choice what you like from that, or add your own.  Have fun!

In my mind I'm seeing the late-Jim Henson in a dreamily lit swamp, sitting on a log next to a left-handed, banjo-toting frog, and the both of them singing Rainbow Connection in perfect harmony.  Anyway, thank you for the good cry, Mr. Beuthin, and thank you for your wonderful musical arrangement.

The arrangement is not extremely difficult, or at least it doesn't go beyond the 4th fret.  Grab the tab, and see what you can do.  I played the lyric and chorus three times through, and varied it slightly each time.  If you just focused on the first time through, as tabbed, you'll have something pleasing. No need to play all the variations.  Just give it some time and practice, and you'll get it.  You know the song--now you just need to let your fingers find the way!

Thanks for the encouragement! I'm a new banjo player so I need to figure out how to play in the key of C in standard G tuning.
