Snark and D’addario have tuner attachments that go on the brackets (instead of the banjo headstock). I use these on “normal” banjos. I have a Nechville Vintage on order, and it uses a different system that does not use standard round brackets. Therefore, from the Snark attachment design (which is designed for standard round brackets), I assume that that is not an option. The D’Addario also “wants” a (one) round bracket, but could be modifiable (I won’t know until I get the Nechville). So the question for Nechville owners (or anyone who might have knowledge), have you found a way to mount a tuner on the rim area?

Did you ask Nechville? They might have an idea. I suppose a 3d printed one could be created.... There is a design available. Interested in one if I make one for myself?

I just went with path of least resistance, and use the D'Addario Micro Headstock Tuner on mine.

I have micro tuners on the headstock of both of my Nechvilles. Those Snark brackets only fit on Gibsons as I understand . At least they don't fit on any of my Vegas. I mount the micro tuner with the display on the underside of the headstock.

I use the D'Addario on my Vintage headstock as well. You are going to love that banjo.

I'm wondering if this will fit Nechvilles--

I found this same tuner on D'Addarios's website. Apparently Musician's Freind will not ship this item (??)

I also emailed Tom Nechville for his opinion if this will fit a Nechville pot. I'm thinking it will, but I don't want to spend $22 to find out.

EDIT -- I now see this is what the OP was referring to. So, maybe Tom can chime in.

Hi Mud -

No, I did not contact Tom Nechville. I want him up all night building banjos! 7 days a week (until I get mine!)

Yes, I would be interested. The Snark seems to be more consistent than the Micro, so I would prefer the Snark attachment. That link looks like a nice unobtrusive design, but black might be better than blue.

Maybe you can get a little business going, supplying them as accessories to be sold on Tom Nechville's site. I'm assume he would like to have moving to a Nechville to be a seamless as possible.

Also, I was pleased and surprised at the number of responses. I thought this post would just sit here and die.

I tried that one, and it doesn't work. There is a notch behind the tuner that would stabilize it over a hook. It can only go between on the nechville frame, and just rattle around.
My neighbor has a 3-d printer. I'm going to have him make one for me, and see how it goes.

Did you experiment with the D'Addario enough to know if its accurcy was acceptable on the Nechville? I was thinking that perhaps that the long springy piece could be "built up" a bit on the ends to eliminate the rattle. Of course, you wouldn't want it to look janky.  Snark would be my preference, but perhaps the D'Addario would be more accurate on the Nechville than on my others.

I tested this tuner when I worked for Nechville.  The wings are a little too short to fit between the posts of the Heli-Mount frame.  I considered trying to McGiver it with some cable ties, but instead ust went back the the mini headstok tuner.

How about something that goes under the flange? Maybe I should wait until I get the instrument, and then worry about it. But we can dance angels on the head of a pin over our banjos, can’t we! I mean, in the scheme of life, look at the time we have spent experimenting and posting on this. Kinda funny, really.
