Some time back, I started making a "RAILROAD LADY" banjo, out of a piston ring from a diesel locomotive.
Due to circumstances beyond MY control, the client had to back out of the deal.
So here's YOUR chance to get the pot,
And John Henry played banjo, according to this old Matthew Brady polaroid.
Aww!
She wants to pay by certified bank check.
According to THIS website, certified bank check is a favorite of scam artists.
And according to BANJO HANGOUT.....
Her account was locked due to suspicion of scamming.
So, probably not going to ever really pay for it, so there's no point in sending it.

Since I put an 11 inch REMO head on it, and the yardstick says 11, I'm guessing it's 11 inches.
Sorry for not posting that IN the ad.
Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I'll edit the ad.

So, I replied, asking her how long she's willing to wait for the check to clear, before I ship it.
Hate to deprive anybody of a banjo, if they're willing to pay my asking price.
You'll just wind up paying a bounced check fee.

Internationally -- 15 business days.
Well, folks, here we are!
Email from Kim Hu, dated FEB 1, asks that I consider it sold, and take down the ad.
Email Feb 3 says the check was "accidentally" written for too much.
When I get the check, I'm supposed to cash it, take an extra $50 for my trouble, and there will be instructions as to where to send the extra.
Geez! I was born in the morning, but not THIS morning!!
The fake check & send the overage scam is quite popular, but also has been frequently mentioned in articles sent to us Old People.
My reply was that nobody's perfect, just send me a check for the correct amount, I'll write VOID on the original check, and send it back with the banjo.
Here it is the 12th, no further response from Kim Hu, or Hu-ever the scammer really is.
But it was fun saving all the e-mails as a text file.
Anybody want to PM me, I'll send you the lot.
