Bayer was in support of the Nazi's during the Holocaust and supported and paid for human testing of drugs on unwilling subjects in the concentration camps. Though the might have improved some since then. https://encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/article/bayer

There is a thing called Forced Obselecence
thing don't last long and you are forced to buy replacements or do without.
have you heard the saying "we don't have an expiration date" or I like to call it Use By Date. I think someone may be working on that.

For the conspiracy theorists, here's a real one for you. The Phoebus Cartel was a global group related around incandescent light bulbs in the late 1920s and 30s. They conspired to set the lifespan of incandescent bulbs to 1,000 hours and had strict fines for companies who manufactured bulbs that exceeded that. If bulbs lasted too long people would not have to buy new ones. I think the same crap is going on with LED bulbs. I have incandescent bulbs in my home that I have not replaced in 30 years, but have replaced the so called 15 year lifespan LEDs after less than 5. Apple is the king of obsolescence. The basically do not allow you to replace batteries in their devices so you have to buy the upgrade when it comes out.

Yup ..... how long do new refrigerators last now ...... 7 to 10 years?
May I remind everyone of Clifford D. Simak's science fiction classic, "Ring Around The Sun", in which the aliens destroy Earth's economy by introducing indestructible razor blades and light bulbs.

Our new one lasted as the manufactured warranty expired, not joking. It was at our lake house and we were not there much during the winter and the thing had a leak in the copper coil in the freezer. Got it repaired but it didn’t fix the problem. Come to find out they were made in Mexico using copper tubing that had micro cracks that eventually caused the Freon to leak out over time. We were not aware of a recall.

I have little doubt that gene pools are discussed when buying at the sperm bank--
I wonder when or if health insurance providers do genetic screening for acception--
us staying natural with no modified derivatives would not be a good thing for corn--potatoes and about everything if you throw out hybrids also
Farm work, whether you are growing cotton, soy beans, grass seed, corn, etc., etc. is all about production .... and production is all about money. I once asked a seed producer why he did use his forty acres to produce Bentgrass seed at $10 per pound rather than Ryegrass seed at $1.00 per pound. He said it is simple .... Ryegrass produces about 400 Lbs. per acre and Bentgrass less than 40 Lbs. per acre. The farmers they contract to grow it could care less what kind of grass it is. It is all about yield and price per pound.
Re: LED
Buying a new bath exhaust/light combo almost all are LED. But from what I read if the LED goes out you have to buy a new exhaust/light combo….and they can go out prematurely.
Went with incandescent…how often does a bath light bulb go out…..
For ceiling lights I went with LED wafers. Inexpensive, easy install or replace.

I remember that one. The suit had to be white because it could not be died. That was a long time ago.

I have a JC Penny fridge in my Kitchen, I got it for free used in 1994 because a friend had bought a replacement. I have never had it worked on. It looks like hell so I do want to replace it, but I'm scared to because I know the next one is probably going to be an over priced pieced of garbage.

We need to replace our stove. That'll be in the $3500 range, way more than I recall paying for the ones we bought previously. And nothing lasts as long, either, Planned obsolescence and inability to service it yourself - a couple of curses.

I have replaced control panels in both my clothes dryer and dish washer ...... about $120 each and ten or fifteen minutes. Each would probably cost in excess of $300 if I had repairman visit. My in-wall oven will not even power up now and it will cost me $200 for a service visit since it will require two people to take it out of the wall and the part they think it needs is not real expensive , tad over $100, but because of the supply chain there is not one in any of the supply houses.

I suspect most, if not all of those involved at the time, are dead.
No one to punish.
