Nice, Jack! Earl never made more notes than was called for. He liked to play in drop C tuning, one of his attributes not generally copied by his legion of bluegrass imitators.

Yeah, Earl was note efficient and used motion economy that's for sure....He had a good ear as they say....Jack

It is a rather easy tune. I remember I was trying to learn this tune by ear in the 1980's when I was more focused on Bluegrass.  Today I think I was rather close to it. I did more forwards rolls instead of backwards rolls, and made some chokes instead of slides.

Hi Jan,
Yes you could use either chokes and forward rolls but Earl chose slides and backward rolls in this tune. It really doesn't matter is my thinking...Jack
