I always loved Ricky Scaggs, especially back in the days before Kentucky Thunder … with Live In London being one of my all time favorite live performances … about 20+ years ago I met Bobby at Station Inn in Nashville , and was lucky to be fortunate to talk to him for a few minutes , at that time I wasn’t into a Stelling banjos , and didn’t talk to him about his banjo … some time after that I discovered a Stelling after I bought my first Bellflower… and few years ago while watching a Ricky Scaggs video , I realized Bobby was playing a Stelling Staghorn .. nowhere ever would you see anyone giving Bobby a credit or mentioning him as a Stelling player , they would talk about some people I never heard of, but not a word about Bobby and his Stelling … if you’re interested in what Bobby Hicks sounds like on his Stelling , here is a YouTube clip … enjoy …

Bobby Hicks is one my favorite fiddlers. He’s in there with Kenny Baker, Jason Carter ,Michael Cleveland… well Michael is in his own galaxy. I didn’t know Mr. Hicks could handle a 5 like that. Long live Bobby Hicks

I watched it like 3-4 times already lol ... Bobby was born in 1933 , so he is 90 , I don't think he's performing any more, I'm just thankful I got to meet him and watch him play when I did ...

That banjo belonged to Skaggs. Bobby played it, but never cared for it. Source - Bobby in maybe 1981 or so.

is that the one i think banjo ben sold for him a few years ago? or had for sale? actually i thought it was a sunflower, i could be mistaken about it all....
