Hello all,
I would like to see if anyone knows of a regular BG or old time jam session in south eastern MA. I live in Easton but I would be willing to drive a bit, if necessary. I am looking for a beginner jam as I am very new to the process.
If anyone knows of any in my area, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you
Jeff

You might want to consider coming to Banjo Camp North, in Charlton, MA, the weekend on May 19 - 21. Of all the banjo camps I've attended over the years Banjo Camp North is perhaps the most useful camp for people just starting out on the banjo. It is a fun weekend with huge learning opportunities and opportunities to connect with other banjo pickers. Check it out at musiccampsnorth.com/#

Originally posted by DC5Jeff, what style of music are you looking to play? Bluegrass? Old Time/Clawhammer? Jazz?
Primarily bluegrass, but old time would be good as well. I have an open back as well as a resonator banjo and I am trying (albeit very slowly) to learn a bit of both. I tend to play 2FTL on the open back.
I thought I mentioned that in the original post but I see that was not the case. I updated the original post as well.
Thanks
Jeff

There's an old time fiddle group slow jam that should be starting up again in the spring in NE CT. It's about an hour 15 to an hour and a half from you. PM me if you think you might be interested.

The Concord Open Bluegrass Jam is a weekly, community driven jam session that prides itself in being an open space for local musicians and music-lovers to socially engage and create music together.
Maxfield Anderson leads the group through vocal songs and instrumental tunes from a variety of musical traditions, including bluegrass, old time, classic country and western, blues, swing, and beyond. Musicians are encouraged—never required—to bring in songs to play with the group.
The Jam is open to acoustic musicians including voice, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, banjo, dobro, bass, cello, harmonica, etc. and at all levels, as well as community members who wish to listen and enjoy the beautiful sanctuary.
The Jam is open to the public. A $10 suggested donation is greatly appreciated! Thank you.
