I saw one once for sale- on 48th street in NYC- unfortunately that would have been around 1978 or so. Also for sale at the same time was a Whyte Laydie #7 that was about 1/2 size. The WL was $400.00 back then.
I have never seen either size banjo Tubaphone or WL for sale anywhere since and have often wondered who bought them.
Mike. Yes! It was at We Buy Guitars. I really really wanted that Whyte Laydie. The Old Man, can’t remember his name, but we all called him that said I could have it for 400. I did scrape the cash up. Sold something and when I came back a few days later, it amd the tiny Tunaphone were *PooF* gone... somebody, who knows most likely bought both. The Tubaphone was a #9. Same inlays as the WL. 48th St was the best. Still have some instruments I bought along there back in the day.
Caspa. Congratulations!
Please post pictures of that banjoine when you have it in hand.
