Animals tend to choose their favorite person. We "rescued" a little 3 pound female Chihuahua many years ago. When we got home and got her settled in, the first person she went to was...... Dave. She was always Dave's dog, never mine. That's the way it goes sometimes. They had a beautiful friendship/love. She followed him everywhere, jumped up in his lap any time he sat in his recliner and cuddled up to him in bed at night.
They (cats) are all different. 12 months on January 05 since Rumpuss, a big frost-bitten stray, came to live with me. She's really opened up with me as a "bed cat." the rest of the time, she and I do our own things. Not a lap-cat, not a beggar. I do think after 10PM that she comes around, expecting me to get into bed for her benefit. Here in my study, she will come in and just sit beside me.
She's looking at a couple of regular weekly visitors, I'm positive that she knows their voices.
BCE - Best Cat Ever, was Shelby, a.k.a. Schlubby. Cute, friendly, calm, and put up with almost anything, especially at the vet clinic. Tiny, too. The "replacements", Bobbi and Charmin, don't even come close. They're incorrigible and, as kittens still, way larger. Two rambunctious monsters who want to get into everything. Bobbi is the Manx-tailed one. Charmin is, obviously, the softer one.
