Hey there everybody!
Brand-new here. I have been having the hardest time finding info on this banjo I came across. I find a ton about Slingerlands but haven't had much luck with this particular model, "Slingerland's Pal". Is it a later model? I would say maybe an entry level banjo except that it is solid and HEAVY. Thanks in advance for any info!

The Slingerland Pal was introduced Feb. 5, 1927 along with the Queen model. They were identified as part of the May Bell line. Initially the Pal was described as a mahogany banjo with pearl inlay. The Pal was listed in Slingerland's dealer circular in 1928. I do not know when the Pal was changed to a pearloid model but was not included in the Slingerland 1930 catalog - apparently discontinued.
I saw one for sale recently, maybe this one. They can be a good or great banjo but it would depend on the tone ring. Remove the resonator and show us the inside. The biggest concern I would have would be the fingerboard. Has the celluloid shrunk, how's the underlying wood and glue? Many times the fingerboard is the biggest issue with these old Slingerlands.
